Last Days at the Iron Triangle

Book release and gallery show opening

Join me on December 15 for the book release of “Last Days at the Iron Triangle,” a 40-page, softcover book of risograph watercolors of Willets Point, a vanishing neighborhood in New York City. Also known as the Iron Triangle, the area consists of auto shops, scrap yards, and small businesses, supported by and serving a working-class immigrant population. In 2022 the City of New York reached an agreement with New York City FC to raze the neighborhood and build a stadium. I visited the area over the past year to paint it before it’s gone.

Paintings made in the streets of Willets Point will be on display, and I’ll speak about the project and sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase. And after the event at 8:30, Dervisi will take the stage to play their incredible Greek “punk Rembetika” music!
